On June 20th 2016, the first Steering Committee meeting of the EU funded Twinning Light Project “Strenhthening the quality assurance and control of the educational system” was carried out. The main purpose of the meeting stood in the analysis of the results registered during the first two months of the project implementation.
The event brought together the two Project Leaders of the partner countries – Mrs Emilija Ugrinovska, Advisor  for psychometrics in the Department for training, research and development of the National Examination Centre and Mrs Rasa Snipiene, Deputy Director of the Education Supply Centre affiliated with the Ministry of Education and Science, who have emphasized the importance of the project and its influence supporting the modernization of the primary and secondary education system in Republic of Macedonia.
As well, representatives of other partner institutions have participated in the meeting. This included the European Social Fund Agency of Lithuania, the EU Delegation to Macedonia, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Science and Bureau for Development of Education.
The activities carried out throughout the first two months were mostly related to the analysis of the current situation, identification of problems, preparation of recommendations and discussion with Beneficiary institution and relevant stakeholders. Lithuanian project leader Rasa Snipiene during the meeting presented the results reached by the Lithuanian experts: the current state of play regarding trainings and examination of directors, their performance evaluation, selection process was analyzed, the strengths and weaknesses of school management teams were indicated, the relevant legislative framework concerning training and examination of directors was revised and amendments were proposed, training needs were assessed and plans for upcoming workshops were prepared.
Initiated on the basis of the partnership between the European Union, National Examination Centre of the Republic of Macedonia and Lithuanian Education Supply Centre, project „Strenhthening the quality assurance and control of the educational system” will facilitate the modernization of the primary and secondary education system ensuring, simultaneously, the continuation of the cooperation between EU and Republic of Macedonia.
